I looked back on my blog and realized I haven’t really mentioned what I’ve been working on. Very soon I’m coming out with a brand new series that started with Gone. Gone tells some of Daisy’s story. Lots of readers have asked for more about her.
When I wrote Breathe I never had any intention of telling her story. I loved her character but her story is sad. The more I wrote in that world though it kind of felt like her story needed to be told even if it was short.
As I thought more about it, the muse who loves to only tell me parts of a story and only when she’s darn good and ready, revealed more information about what actually happened. I knew broad details but I didn’t spend a lot of time there in my head. The story made me sad too.
All it took was a question asked by a writer friend. “Was there a boy?” Why yes, yes there was. And the muse took off on a journey. A whole new series was born. Gone is more about the boy. Which is probably the only way I could have written the story. Trane Braxton is really the lead in Gone instead of Daisy. His life is a mess and it only gets messier when he allows Daisy to worm her way in.
After the events in Gone his quality of life hasn’t improved. As a matter of fact he’s getting pretty desperate. I’m really becoming attached to this character and his world. Gone is just the beginning. His book is just about finished. Rewrites and rounds of editing, formatting and proofing are next.
