If I couldn't be a writer what would I be?
This is sort of a difficult question because I can’t imagine a life where I wasn’t writing something. Before I did this professionally I was a stay-at-home mom. My focus was my family so the idea and going out and getting a job now is kind of hilarious.
Who would hire me? I haven’t had an hourly paying gig in, umm let’s see, my daughter is twenty-seven so… twenty-seven years.
What on earth would that resume look like?
Actually when I stop to think about it? There's lots of stuff I could put on it but I don't know if it would help. I’ve sat on boards of organizations, run committees, events, and conferences. I’ve judged writing contests, run a Girl Scout troop, been a cheer mom, a football mom, a basketball mom. I’ve put together award presentations, taught classes and workshops on social media and other stuff to help writers.
And I owned my own travel agency for eight years.
But what would I want to do? The simple answer is help people. I love to teach and encourage people to accomplish their goals so there it is. I’d help, teach and encourage. I would serve. Whatever that looked like at the moment.
Not a very exciting answer, I know. The answer isn't an astronaut or a belly dancer or an ice road trucker.
But I like the sound of it.
