Because I love to read I get asked a lot “What’s your favorite book?” I have actually never been able to answer this question. For someone who loves to read it seems almost like a trick question. I couldn’t choose my favorite book, ever. As soon as I named one I would think of ten more I liked just as much. How do you choose a favorite? Why would you want to?
I know what I like to read. I know what kind of books I like but then again sometimes that changes too. I love suspense novels, thrillers, classics, romance, historical romance, chick lit, young adult, and some fantasy. As you can see I don’t even stick to one genre. If the story sounds interesting to me I will read it. I don’t really care what category someone has put it in. It’s about the story. Do I love the characters? Am I sucked in from the beginning? Do I care enough about them to spend the time to find out what happens?
Those are the things that matter when I am choosing a book. To make it a favorite, I have to want to go back and visit them. Can I read the book again and again and not be bored? Do I miss the characters when I’m done and wish the story went on? Do I think about the characters like they are personal friends? That is what makes a favorite.

Love a good, well plotted out story by an author. But some of my favs can go back as far from childhood (Amelia Bedelia stories, Judy Blume) and some of my favs from the past several years or so (Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, James Patterson, Stephenie Meyer, Aprillynne Pike, and of course the great J.K. Rowling) just to throw out a few. But I’m so happy to have you as another book lover/ blogger to read. Look forward to your tweets as well.

I agree about the plotting for sure. I like to be surprised and I don’t want to always be able to predict where it is going. I have so many favorites too. For sure a lot that you mentioned. Loved Harry Potter and the Hunger Games trilogy. I have been wanting to read Cassandra Clare but I am in the middle of the first Game of Thrones so it will be awhile before I start anything new. I also don’t read a lot when I am writing since it interferes. It is very nice to meet you.
Thanks for the comment,
